Replit has launched Monitoring Agent, which investigates production problems in apps you have published on Replit. When an alert fires, Replit says the agent works out the cause, makes and validates a fix, and emails you a summary of what happened and what changed.
It builds on App Monitoring, which Replit launched earlier this year to alert you when a published app went down. That feature only told you something broke. Monitoring Agent now tries to repair it.
Auto-publish is a separate setting
Monitoring Agent is configured in your app’s settings, where you turn on monitoring alerts and auto-fix. Auto-publish is a distinct, optional setting. Replit says that with it on, the agent deploys validated fixes to your live app automatically, and that you decide whether fixes are published automatically.
Picture a customer-facing form that starts returning errors at 2 a.m. With auto-publish on, the fix can be live before you wake up. It can also be a wrong fix that goes live before you read the email. Replit says the agent validates each fix, but it has not described what that validation covers, and validation by the agent is not review by a person.
For an app that handles payments, logins, or customer data, leave auto-publish off until you have seen how the agent’s fixes look on a lower-stakes app. Replit has not said which plans include Monitoring Agent or what it costs.
